Spaceman from the forum managed to go see Matt in The Hotel Play on 29th May and has kindly written a report and shared some pictures.

The play was brilliant. I was in the front row. The edge of the stage (3-4ft in height) was actually against my knees. I kid you not. Matt was in it for about five minutes. But what a five minutes.... The excitement of seeing the next Doctor like that was madness. The play I really enjoyed it was really good. Benedict Cumberbutch is one to watch. He was the main lead.
The play was a riot. Loved it. I even tried to find the script of it at the counter. So if anyone gets hold of The Hotel Play script by Wallace Shawn let us know.
It was, a pot pori of different people staying at what must have been a big hotel, run by Benedict Cumberbutch's character. He is also deffo one to watch, as he's playing Sherlock Holmes with Martin Freeman as Dr. Watson. Set in present day. Written by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss.
It was an absolute joy. Matt was really good. His character
was having an affair with another man's wife. The whole family (Italian?)
were all there on holiday. Husband. Wife. Husband's family, brother; parents;
grandparents.
Anyway they're making out. The husband and brother turn up in his room.
Husband brandishing a gun. Starts having a go at Matt's character. Matt
becomes cowardly indignant. The more the brother starts cussing him the
more Matt's blood boils. And he shouts at the brother, saying how dare he
make accusations.
The husband and brother flee dropping the gun. The wife is kind of impressed.
Matt's starts going on in a slightly hightened cowardly indignant manner,
how he's never heard such awful verbose accusations. The wife begins to
react to this. And Matt starts having a go at her and the whole family on
how they're all common. The scene ends. I Loved it. Shame it wasn't a production,
even for a week. 'cos ah'd go every day. Mental. Loved it. matt is such
a dude.
An-y-way! It had lots of people from Who in it. Geoffrey
Beevers - The Master in Keeper of Traken;
Harry Peacock - Proper Dave, The Library and the actor, sorry the name escapes
me, President Winter from The Sound Of Drums.
After the play, went to the bar area. About 5-10 minutes later, Matt turned up. Mixed with some of the other actors. A few non paying fans turned up asking for autographs and photographs. For which he was very good about.
I approached Matt, too which he is the most obliging,
laid back and friendly man ah've met.
Unassuming. He's just like he is, interviewed on television. Very friendly.
He signed my copy of the Time Machine (similar to the one in th etv movie.)
Wished him 'all the best with the series. We're all excited
about him being the Doctor.'
He replied, "You're going to enjoy series five." With that twinkle
in his eyes.
Without being over bearing and with the amount of people plus lack of space. I got one picture o f Matt on his own, shneakily taken and one with Matt and I.
I stayed around soaking up the atmosphere. Watching it all going on. Matt spoke to every one I reckon.
Guys, he is going to be brilliant as the Doctor. As a person, he's just, well your best mate that you love going to the pub with or just hanging out.
